Ura Paul Shumate, 79, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Hospice and Community Center in Mount Joy, PA. Born on February 12, 1934, in Peach Bottom, PA, he was the son of the late Ira E. and Ina Ann (Okie) Shumate. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie. Ura served three years in the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean conflict. He was also an active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for more than 25 years. In addition to his wife, Ura is survived by four children: Bryan Shumate, Rowena Rodina, Lisa Frankfort and Susan Long; and sisters, Ruth Bryson and H. Laurel Mellinger. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Shumate and a sister, Iris Opal Laird.
