Susan R. Stauffer, 94, of 1020 North Union Street, Middletown, PA, formerly of Londonderry Twp., Dauphin Co., peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, August 20, 2010 at Frey Village in Middletown. She was blessed with perfect health prior to becoming ill with Alzheimer's disease three years ago. Born in Lititz, PA, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Amanda Helt Rhoads. She was the wife of the late John M. Stauffer who died in 1992.
Mrs. Stauffer was a member of Fountain of Life Church in Middletown. In addition to being a homemaker and farmer's wife, she was also employed as a machine operator by the former Risser's Garment Factory in Elizabethtown, PA prior to her retirement. She and her husband raised turkeys, strawberries, and other produce to sell. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Rachel R., wife of J. Walter Heisey, of Elizabethtown; two sons, John R. Stauffer of Mount Joy, PA, formerly of the Middletown area, and Carl R. Stauffer of Evening Shade, AR; two grandchildren, Cindy Harder of the Middletown area, and Jeff Heisey of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three great grandchildren, Asher, Addi, and Abigail Harder; and a sister, Edna Shearer of Lancaster, PA. She was preceded in death by several brothers.
Services were private. Interment was in Shenk's Cemetery, Elizabethtown. Arrangements by Spence Funeral Services, Manheim, PA.
