Sandra J. Gibble, 90, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Manheim, entered rest on Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2026 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Elva T. (Christ) Long. When Sandra was a young girl, her mother died and Sandra was then raised by her aunt Hazel Taby. Sandra was the wife of the late David E. Gibble for 59 years before he passed in 2017.

Sandra was a proud 1954 graduate of Coal Twp. High School in Shamokin and attended the former Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1957. Sandra was employed by Moravian Manor, United Zion Retirement Community before retiring from Lancaster General Hospital after a 40-year career as a registered nurse. Sandra and David enjoyed living in Florida for 10 years after they retired before returning to Lancaster County.

Sandra was an active member of St. Luke's UCC in Lititz where she volunteered as a driver with Meals-on-Wheels. She expressed her deep patriotism by walking through the Penryn Cemetery and ensuring that all veteran flags were properly displayed. She also properly cared for and retired American flags that needed to be replaced. Sandra was a very active and athletic person. She enjoyed playing golf, racquetball, tennis, walking, and gardening. She also enjoyed music, singing, and playing the piano.

She is survived by three children, David M., husband of Pauline (Felice) Gibble, of Reading, Sharon J., wife of Steven Haines, of Willow Street, and Michelle F. Meyers of Saugerties, NY; four grandchildren, Melissa (Stephen) Reynolds, Randall (Leah) Haines, Nathaniel (Megan) Meyers, and Rachel (Colin) Lyons; and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Mary Jane Filarski, Carolyn McCartney, and David Long.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's UCC, 222 North Broad Street, Lititz, PA 17543. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive guests at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Private interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
