Roderick J. Frechette, 63, of Manheim, PA, formerly of Bridgeport, CT, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in St. Albans, VT, he was the son of the late Archie and Marolyn Danyou Frechette. He was the husband of Carol A. Fidler Frechette for 41 years on October 5, 2009.
Prior to retiring in 2005, he was a self-employed automobile mechanic. He was the owner of Rod Frechette's Automotive in Manheim for 11 years. Previously, he was employed as a mechanic by Brubaker Motors in Lancaster, PA and Kaylor's Garage in Penryn, PA. A tinkerer, he could fix just about anything that was broken. He was a life member of both the Germania Band Club and the Elstonville Sportsmen Association, both in Manheim.
A Mopar fanatic, Rod enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing. He also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City, block shooting competitions at Elstonville, camping, cookouts, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two children, Jeffrey L., husband of Angela A. Herr Frechette and Lori A. wife of Michael A. George, both of Manheim; and five grandchildren, Corey L. and Aaron J. Frechette, and Ashley R., Dylan M., and Jordan T. George. Services are private.
