He married Anna Viola Miller, of Arcola, Illinois on June 21, 1969, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three children: Dr. Brendon Nolt and his wife, Anita (Longenecker) Nolt, of Lewisburg, PA; DeVon Nolt and his partner, Deb Penham, of Kerhonkson, NY; and Glory (Nolt) Bahar and her husband, Toofan Bahar, of San Jose, CA; and five grandchildren: Justin, Darren, and Julia Nolt, and Soraya and Cyrus Bahar. He has three siblings who survive: Miriam Roberts, Ruth Ann Musser, and Wilmer Nolt.

Bob received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Mennonite University in 1969, and a Master of Education degree from the University of Virginia in 1977.

He served there as a bivocational pastor for thirteen years, along with teaching science at the local junior high school. Bob served as a pastor at Freeport Mennonite Church and Metamora Mennonite Church in Illinois, and as conference minister of South Central Mennonite Conference in Kansas. In 2007, he and Anna moved to Pennsylvania, where he served as interim pastor of four Mennonite congregations: Finland, Upper Milford, East Petersburg, and Goods. His pastoral work totaled more than fifty years. During retirement he worked as a substitute teacher in the Hempfield School District.
