Obituary

Robert C. "Bob" Kuhn, 76, of Palmyra, PA, formerly of Lancaster and raised in Pittsburgh, met Jesus face-to-face on Wednesday morning July 15, 2026 at Columbia Cottage-Hershey following a nine-year battle with melanoma. Born in Pittsburgh on August 31, 1949, he was the son of the late Earl Thomas Kuhn, Sr. and Mary Belle (Whipkey) Kuhn. He was the husband of Lynn (Elliott) Kuhn, the love of his life, and they would have celebrated their 55 th wedding anniversary on July 31.

Bob was a 1967 graduate of Baldwin High School where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his wrestling career. He attended University of Pittsburgh where he was also an All-American wrestler, Hall of Fame inductee, and recipient of the Rex Peery Award. Bob considered this award "the greatest recognition (he) ever received." While at Pitt, Bob was an ROTC cadet. Bob earned a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering.

Bob was a member and past president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Harrisburg Chapter. Over many years, he coached hundreds of youth involved in the recreational wrestling program in Palmyra. Bob's servant leadership brought out the best in athletes, including having fun.

From 1972-74, Bob and Lynn served as evangelists with Athletes in Action (CRU ministries) East wrestling team, competing and connecting with East Coast and Midwest universities. He then was employed by the former York-Borg-Warner as a mechanical engineer before entering a 21-year career with the former AMP, where he retired in market research. He also was employed by UPS for 17 years as an overnight sorter.

Bob was a faithful member of Hershey Evangelical Free Church where he served with the van ministry for 20 years and joyfully welcomed members and guests on Sunday mornings. He also served on the founding committee and chairman of the board of Hilltop Christian Nursery School. Bob was devoted to God, family and friends. "Well done good and faithful servant."

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter, Carissa L. Kuhn, of Charlotte, NC, and a brother Jack R., husband of Margi Kuhn, of Austin, TX. He was also preceded in death by a son, Chad R. Kuhn, and a brother, Earl T. Kuhn, Jr., Brigadier General (Ret.).

A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. All are invited to a luncheon at the church prior to the graveside service at Broadview Cemetery in Hershey. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Chad Kuhn Scholarship Fund of Hilltop Christian Nursery School, c/o Hershey Free Church.
