Linda J. Shearer, 60, of Bainbridge, PA, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2015 at ManorCare in Elizabethtown. Linda was the daughter of Alma J. Sweigart Shearer of Bainbridge and the late David E. Shearer. She was a member of Elizabethtown United Zion Church since childhood and was a 1973 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School. She was employed as a nurses' aid by ManorCare for 14 years before she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2010. Previously, she was employed as a kitchen worker by Masonic Village. She enjoyed listening to Gospel music and watching vintage television shows. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two brothers, Steven, married to Pamela, and John, married to Sabine, all of Bainbridge; five nephews, four nieces, two great nephews, and three great nieces. In addition to her father who died in 2004, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Lynn Shearer, in 2007, and a sister-in-law, Lori Shearer, in 2010. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Elizabethtown United Zion Church, 401 East Park Street, Elizabethtown, PA with Pastor Kenneth Witmer officiating. Private interment will be in Good's Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown. There will be no viewing. The family will receive guests at the church on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
