Laura Lee Westwood Landis, born March 25, 1943, in the Kittanning (PA) Hospital to the late John Fredrick (Fred) Westwood, Sr. and Dorothy Reed Westwood, died on Saturday, November 2, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings, Freddie E. Westwood, Johnny Westwood, Bonnie Sue Westwood, Doris Westwood Trunick McIlwain, and John Frederick (Jack) Westwood, Jr. She grew up in Edgewood until she was 12 and then her family moved to Manorville, both in Armstrong County. Laura graduated from Ford City High School in 1961 and Harrisburg Community College. She worked for the Public School Employees' Retirement System in Harrisburg for almost 45 years.
Laura is survived by her loving and devoted husband, James Landis, and their children Timothy (Tiffany) Landis and daughter Kathleen Landis. She is a member of Rissers Mennonite Church where she was very active serving on many committees and at times teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed sending cards and letters and added uplifting cartoons or sayings to help lift the spirits of her many friends and family. She was the matriarch of her family and enjoyed doing genealogy for the Westwood and Landis side of the families.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Rissers Mennonite Church, 8360 Elizabethtown Road, Elizabethtown, PA. Interment will immediately follow the service in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Monday evening from 5-7:00 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
