Obituary

Joseph J. MacDougall, 84, of Manheim, PA, formerly of Watertown, MA, died Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2015, at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA following a lenthy illness. Born in Arlington, MA, he was the son of the late John D. and Mary E. Kiley MacDougall. He was the husband of Maryclaire A. Brennan MacDougall for 62 years on June 15. Mr. MacDougall was baptized in and a member of the Roman Catholic faith. During the Korean War, he served his country by serving as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Early in his career, he was employed as a district manager by Bauer and Black Suspensory in Haddonfield, NJ and Kendall Company in Chicago as a products specialist. He was called upon often by his employers to exercise his oratory skills to address various groups. Later while living in Florida, he was an orthopedic appliances salesman for 16 years. Mr. MacDougall was a member of the Knights of Columbus Red Bank Council 3187 in Fair Haven, NJ, and a former member of the American Legion. His hobbies included reading, writing, and playing golf and tennis. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Iosep, husband of Francine Kuntz MacDougall, of Spartanburg, SC, David J. MacDougall of Lancaster, PA, Sally A. MacDougall of Frederick, MD, and Daniel MacDougall of Washington, DC; five grandchildren; and a great grandson Kieran; and a sister, Catherine, wife of Robert Rinn, of Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by a brother, John MacDougall. Services will be private. There will be no viewing.
