Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather is now in the arms of Jesus, having passed away Tuesday morning, July 14, 2009 at Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim, PA following a brief stay and illness. Born in West Lampeter Twp., Lancaster County, PA on April 26, 1922, he was the son of the late Christ L. and Anna Klaus Herr. He was married to Jane Smith Ober on July 26, 1944. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly missed by his two daughters, Peggy, wife of Henry Erb, of Lancaster, PA and Carol, wife of Larry Huber, of Manheim; six grandchildren, Jon Andrew Lehman, father of Jessica, John Benjamin, and Tim; Adam Lehman, father of Kari, Mandi, and Courtney; Abbey Lehman, mother of Blake and Crystal; John Huber, father of John Nathaniel; Erin Huber Hershey; and Laura Huber Lane; and a son-in-law, Gary Lehman, of Manheim. A long-time Manheim area resident, John operated a farm in Rapho Twp., Lancaster County for 54 years. In addition to golfing, he enjoyed traveling and going to the mountains. John is also survived by a brother, Jacob, husband of Mildred Herr, and a sister, Arlene, wife of Mervin McMichael, all of Lancaster; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Herr, widow of Clyde Herr, of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Kay Lehman, who passed away in 2007; two brothers, Park Herr and Clyde Herr; and two sisters, Alma Ranck and Ruth Witmer. A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday morning, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Lititz Mennonite Church, 165 Front Street, Lititz, PA, preceded by a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Kindly omit flowers.
