J. Albert Greenawalt, 74, loving husband, father, and brother from Elizabethtown, PA, went home to be with his Lord on August 11, 2017, at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the son of the late Albert and Sarah Koser Greenawalt and the husband of Carol A. Risser. They observed their 52nd anniversary on May 15. Loved by many, J. Albert was known for his generosity and kindness to all. He had worked for Longenecker's Hatchery for 44 years before retiring and was a member of the American Diabetes Association. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and entertaining friends, as well as cutting firewood, enjoying his woodland, and taking care of his chickens and garden. He was a faithful charter member of Faith Bible Church in Mt. Joy. He was preceded in death by his grandson Cody Creech, and five siblings: Raymond, Benjamin, Alpha Oberholtzer, Arlene Brackbill, and Ardella Greenawalt. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rachel, married to Maynard Keller, of Roanoke, VA, Roger, married to Montse Estrada Greenawalt, of Rheems, and Sara, married to Guy Messer, of Wellborn, FL; three siblings, Aaron, Roscoe, and Sara Jane Boltz; nine grandchildren; a step grandson; and a step great granddaughter. A celebration of J. Albert's life will be held on Tuesday morning, August 15, at 11:00 AM at Faith Bible Church, 2075 Harrisburg Avenue, Mount Joy, PA 17552. Interment will follow at the West Green Tree Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM and on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
