Obituary

Irma Virginia Dearholt, age 84, of Millersville, PA, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Born on May 26, 1926, in Elk Mills, MD, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Grace Moore Stocktill. Mrs. Dearholt was a 1943 graduate of Elkton High School. After high school, she worked as a secretary for the DuPont Company, Wilmington, DE, for 10 years. After that, she and her late husband, Robert "Bob" Dearholt, opened Dearholt's Market in Newark, DE, which they owned and operated for 25 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed painting crafts handcrafted by Bob. Her life revolved around taking care of her family. She was always described as a sweet soul, and will be sorely missed by her family and everyone who knew her. Mrs. Dearholt is survived by her only child, Robin D. Van Leer, Millersville, PA; grandsons, Adam D. Van Leer and Kevin D. Van Leer and his wife, Melissa M., Carmel, IN. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dearholt was preceded in death by seven siblings. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Baldwin United Methodist Church, 756 Elk Mills Rd., Elk Mills, MD, where family and friends may call after 9 a.m. Rev. Dr. Carolyn Bunting will officiate. Private interment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Baldwin United Methodist Church, or Compassionate Care Hospice, 1315 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
