Obituary

Geraldine "Gerry" Henry, 76, of Manheim, PA, formerly of Lancaster, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in the village of Sporting Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Watson and Alverta Shreiner Watson Crawford. She was the step-daughter of the late A. Charles Crawford. Gerry was the wife of Luther L. Henry for 58 years on August 2, 2010. Gerry was a former member of Church of the Apostles, UCC in Lancaster and attended the church of her childhood, East Fairview Church of the Brethren in Manheim. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a retail manager by Motherhood Maternity. Previously, she was employed by the former Graybill Electric Company as an office worker and by the former Hubley Toy Company as a line assembler. While her son was deployed during Operation Desert Storm, she supported the troops by being involved with the Air Force Mothers' Club. Her interests included cooking and decorating her home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Rhonda L., wife of James R. Dowell, Landisville, PA, and Alan, husband of Paula J. Benyak Henry, of Yorktown, VA; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorraine Miley of Lancaster, and Charlene, wife of David Hogg, of Denver, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Kring, and a brother, Robert Watson. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, PA. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
