Obituary

George Toth, 94, of Manheim, PA, formerly of New York City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Fairmont Homes, Ephrata. Born in Hungary, he was the son of the late Martin and Catharine Toth. He was the wife of the late Mary Gaspar Toth who died in 2012 after 67 years of marriage. George was a member of the First Hungarian Baptist Church in New York City where he served as an elder, sang in the choir, and was caretaker of the church building. While living in Romania, he was employed as a diesel engine mechanic. After immigrating to the United States in 1970, he was employed as a handy man. He and his wife helped many ethnic Hungarians adjust to living in the United States after they immigrated themselves. George enjoyed gardening. He is survived by a daughter, Martha P. Weaver, with whom he lived; a grandson, George C. Toth of Nanuet, NY; daughter-in-law, Julia Toth of Nanuet, NY; and a sister, Anna Jakab of Romania. He was also preceded in death by his son, George Toth, Jr., and two siblings, Martin Toth and Ilonka Szilagyi. Services are private at the invitation of the family. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Manheim. There is no viewing. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to First Hungarian Baptist Church, 225 East 80th Street, New York, NY 10075.
