Galen W. Hosler, 93, formerly of Manheim, PA, entered the glorious presence of Jesus on Monday afternoon, September 12, 2016 at Brethren Village after a period of declining health. Born in Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., he was the son of the late Walter G. and Daisy P. White Hosler. He was the loving husband of the late Alta H. Stauffer Hosler for 67 years at the time of her passing in 2012.
Galen was a faithful member of Chiques Church of the Brethren in Manheim where he sang in the choir and the men's chorus and served as a trustee in his earlier years. He was employed an assembler, fabricator, and delivery man for 40 years by the former N.G. Hershey and Son farm implement dealership in Manheim. He later was employed as an implement fabricator by the former Kreider Manufacturing company also in Manheim. He retired from Manheim Auto Auction where he was employed for many years as a driver. Galen enjoyed hunting and was a member of Pine View Hunting Camp in Potter County. He also enjoyed tending his fruit trees and garden.
He is survived by three children, Nevin S., husband of Cordelia H. Keller Hosler, of Manheim, Patricia A., wife of Darwin H. Metzler, of Lititz, and Marjorie S., wife of Kevin E. Shaffer, of Manheim; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Orpha Foreman and Grace Myer, both of Manheim. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter and nine siblings, Stanley Hosler, Naomi Hollinger, Paul Hosler, Ruth Haldeman, Mark Hosler, Amelia Buckwalter, Marlin Hosler, infant sister Mary Hosler, and Esther Lehman.
A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, September 16, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA. Private interment will be in Chiques Cemetery. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive guests at the Chapel on Friday afternoon from 1:30 PM until the time of the service.
