Obituary

Edith F. White, 93, of Lititz, PA, passed away at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, PA on Sunday morning, November 17, 2013. Born in Penn Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary Forney Rohrer. She was the wife of the late William E. White for 70 years prior to his passing away in 2010. She faithfully took care of her husband through all of his illnesses and was a wonderful caregiver to him. Edith is survived by a son, W. David, husband of Linda M. Gantz White, of Manheim; two granddaughters, Megan L., wife of John Chism, and parents of John David and Vivian E., and Brynn M., wife of Neal Hammer; and a brother, Clinton F., husband of Barbara Rohrer, of Lititz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Vera F. (Joseph) Smith, Levi F. (Irene) Rohrer, and infant brothers, Earl F. and Eugene F. Rohrer. Edith was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lititz. Edith was a former hairdresser and also was a production worker at the former RCA plant, both in Lancaster, PA. She retired in 1984 from the former Warner Lambert Company in Lititz, where she worked for 28 years. She loved her family and her eyes lit up when her great grandchildren walked into her room. A memorial service will be held on Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Hoffer Auditorium of Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim with Rev. Bill Melone officiating. Private interment will be in Longenecker Brethren Cemetery, Lititz. There will be no public viewing. The family will receive guests at Hoffer Auditorium on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
