Obituary

Dawn Elaine Herr, 47, of Harrisburg, PA, formerly of Hershey, found peace in the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, June 9, 2017 in Harrisburg. Born in Hershey, she was the daughter of Ruthanne Landvater Herr of Hershey and the late Robert L. Herr. Dawn was raised in the Conewago Church of the Brethren in Hershey and more recently attended Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill. She was a 1988 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lancaster Bible College. She was employed for 16 years by Hershey Medical Center in the Information Center and the Anesthesiology Department. Later, she was employed by Country Meadows in home health care. She was also employed by the former Cocoa Court Fitness Center in Hershey. She will be remembered for her encouraging spirit, ability to express herself through writing, calligraphy, scrapbooking, volunteering of herself on mission trips and completing the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society marathon. She was active with the Future Farmers of America and was the Pennsylvania State Secretary of the organization in 1988-89. In addition to her mother, she is survived by five siblings, Debra, wife of Andy Smith, of Hershey, Diane, wife of Barry Myers, of Elizabethtown, Dennis, husband of Jeany Herr, of Lebanon, Duane, husband of Beth Herr, of Hershey, and Darla, wife of Michael Johnson, of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Lee Herr. A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening, June 22, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Mount Wilson Church of the Brethren, 1261 Mount Wilson Road, Lebanon, PA with Pastors Scott Cooper and Jim Eikenberry officiating. There will be no public viewing. Private interment will be in Hanoverdale Brethren Cemetery, Hummelstown. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
