Obituary

Connie M. Swisher, 88, of Lititz, PA, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Shickshinny, PA, she was the daughter of the late Millard M. and Lydia McLaughlin McKennon, and was married to the late Harold W. Swisher for 61 years. She was a loving mother, wife and friend who will be missed by both her immediate family and her family at United Zion Retirement Community, where she resided. Connie graduated from Shickshinny High School and spent her working years in clerical and executive assistant positions with Commonwealth Telephone Company, Independent Telephony Company, and Wilbur-Suchard Chocolate Company. She left full-time employment to support the career of her husband after he was elected principal at Warwick Senior High School. A member of Trinity E.C. Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She also served on the board of the Lititz Public Library during its formative years, the Lititz-Warwick Community Chest, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Order of The Eastern Star Inc. Lititz Springs Chapter #499. Connie enjoyed reading, flower gardening, musical events put on by students in the Warwick School District, and spending time at the family cottage near Ricketts Glen. She will be remembered for her love of God, her singing voice, her talent for freehand calligraphy, and for being a great listener. Surviving is a son, Shane M. Swisher of Lititz, a sister, Louise Sorber of Shickshinny, a brother, Millard "Mick" McKennon Jr. of Lititz, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Lois and June. The family wishes to thank the staff at United Zion Retirement Community for the excellent care Connie received during her residency there. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to United Zion Retirement Community, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, or to the building fund of Trinity E.C.
