Carol A. Stevenson, 76, Masonic Village, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, was called home to heaven on Sunday morning, April 6, 2014 at Masonic Health Care Center. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Jocum Gorrie. She was the wife of William C. Stevenson for 38 years on March 18.
Carol was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Clearwater, FL, and John S. Sell Memorial Chapel at Masonic Village where she sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Girls High in Philadelphia. She was employed as a meter locator by Philadelphia Gas Works for more than 20 years. She was also employed by the State of Florida Transportation Department where she was coordinator of handicapped transportation for all of Pinellas County. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Elizabethtown Chapter, No. 407. Earlier in her life, she was involved in the choreography and directing of musical productions.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Carol Norman of Ambler, PA, Janet Stevenson, wife of Anthony Puyia, of Brigantine, NJ, William, Jr., husband of Jodi Bryza Stevenson, of Reading, PA, Lisa Clyde-Peace, wife of James Peace, of Los Angeles, CA, and Robin Lynch of Ship Bottom, NJ; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Susan Chittam, of Florida.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 10:30 AM at John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with Rev. Margaret Rohnacher officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Guests may call at Sell Chapel on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. If desired, contributions may be made to John S. Sell Memorial Chapel or Masonic Village Endowment Fund.
