Obituary

Betty L. Thompson, 86, of 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, PA, formerly of Manheim, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, September 22, 2009 at Moravian Manor in Lititz following a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Emma Hummer Hollinger. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Thompson, Sr. who died in 2003. A homemaker, Betty was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, both in Manheim. She was a graduate of Manheim High School and was employed for 17 years as a waitress by the former Evans Restaurant in Manheim. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by five children, Charles C. "Chuck", Jr., husband of Darlene Graybill Thompson, of Lititz, Diane E., wife of Rodney Lutz, of Lititz, Linda L. Thompson of Columbia, PA, Betsy R., wife of Ron Ditzler, of Manheim, and David B. Thompson of Lititz; nine grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Earla Hollinger and Helen Hollinger, and a brother Charles "Chas" Hollinger. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
