Obituary

Bennie L. Hill, 72, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of Groton, NY, passed peacefully early Saturday morning, February 7, 2015 at the home of his daughter where he was making his residence. Born in Groton, he was the son of the late Benjamin J. and Vina L. Weber Hill. He was the husband of Josephine Clark Hill for 51 years last June 29. Bennie was a member of First Church of God in Elizabethtown. Prior to retiring, he was the owner of Hill Sanitation in Groton, a business he father founded. During the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Army. True to his outgoing personality, Bennie never met a stranger. Over the years, he was a former member of the Free & Accepted Masons, the Rotary Club, and the American Legion, all in Groton. A train enthusiast, he was a collector of O-gauge model trains. He also enjoyed fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Benjamin J., II, husband of Loretta Price Hill, of Cortland, NY, Patrick A., husband of Jennifer Furcha Hill, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Julie B., wife of Gary Rutter, of Elizabethtown and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Hill and Luella Anderson. Private services and interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. There will be no viewing. The family invites guests to join them for an informal Celebration of Life gathering at Virgil United Methodist Church, 1196 Church Street, Virgil, NY beginning at 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015.
