Arlington R. "Ray" Blantz, Jr., 65, of Manheim, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital following a period of declining health. Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Arlington R., Sr. and Grace Williams Blantz. He was the husband of the late Susan M. Long Blantz for 30 years prior to her death in 2015.
Ray was a member of Hernley Mennonite Church in Manheim. He was enlisted in the United States Army Reserve as a private first class. Among other occupations, he was a delivery person for Lapores Appliance Store in Lancaster. His interests included collecting and hauling junk, pitching horse shoes, playing Pinochle, old cars, attending flea markets, and generally being busy.
He is survived by eight children, Kandy Sue Blantz (Patrick Morgan, Sr.) of Manheim, Arlington Ray Blantz, III of North Carolina, Jeffrey L. (Jennifer) Blantz of Manheim, Bill Joe (Lisa) Markley of Elizabethtown, Brian Markley of Manheim, Kenneth E. Leisey of Lancaster, Donna M. (William) White of Manheim, and Debra L. (John, Jr.) Trimble of Manheim; 19 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and two sisters, Doris (Jake) Jacoby of Fairfield and Mary Lou Krimes of Manheim. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammie Blantz, and two siblings, Sammy Blantz and Grace Blantz.
There is no public service. Private interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim.
