Obituary

Arlene Dundore, 78, of Manheim, PA, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday morning, January 18, 2015 at Rheems Nursing Center, Rheems, PA. Born on the family farm in Penn Twp., Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harvey W. and Eva M. Stermer Weaver. She was the caring wife of Elvin G. Dundore for 59 years on September 24th. Arlene was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church and taught Sunday school for various age groups for many years. She was employed as a machine operator by the former Naugle's Garment Factory in Manheim and the former Windows, Dreams, and Schemes. She was widely known for designing and sewing over 14,000 outfits for American Girl dolls. She also hosted tea parties for American Girl dolls and their families. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed quilting, making crafts, and sharing her faith with others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by seven siblings, Marian, wife of J. Wilbur Ginder, of Manheim, Carol Demmy of Ulysses, Eleanor, wife of Lester Shamber, of Hobe Sound, FL, H. Dale, husband of Barbara Weaver, of Lititz, Nina Nelson of Salunga, H. Ronald, husband of Miriam Weaver, of Manheim, and Terry L., husband of Ruth Weaver, of Manheim; and two nephews, Ronald Hossler and Donald Hossler, whom they raised. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Harvey Weaver, C. William Weaver, Medwin Hossler, E. Rosalin Hershey, Doris Miller, Joseph Weaver, Audrey Weaver, and Edward Weaver. A funeral service will be held on Friday morning, January 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, PA with Rev. Dr. Donald Metz officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM and on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
