Anita M. Benner, 93, of Manheim, PA, passed away on Monday afternoon, September 8, 2014 at Pleasant View Retirement Community in Manheim following a period of declining health. Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Verna L. Barnhart Ream. She was the wife of John T. Benner for 69 years prior to his death in 2010. Mrs. Benner was a member of East Fairview Church of the Brethren in Manheim. Prior to retiring, she was the bookkeeper for her husband's construction business, Benner Homes. In addition to being an avid reader, she enjoyed buying and selling antiques. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra M., wife of James Welborn, of Fort Wayne, IN, Connie J. Benner of Manheim, and Kay Louise, wife of William McConnell, of Hummelstown; two sons, Brad J., husband of Barb Hubin Benner of Manheim, and Bryan S. Benner of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2014 at 3:30 PM at East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, PA with Rev. Jimm Roland officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 2:30 PM until the time of the service.
