Alice G. Schneider, 92, of Akron, PA, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2012 at Rheems Nursing Center, Rheems, PA, following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Noblesville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Vernice and Katherine Stern Unger. She was the wife of the late Raymond J. Schneider who died in 1965. Mrs. Schneider was employed as a teller by Indiana National Bank prior to her retirement. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A., wife of David R. South, of Manheim, PA; three grandchildren, Susan Diefenderfer, Barbara Stokes, and Jeffrey South, all of Lancaster County, PA; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Exiene Barnett of Shelbyville, IN; a niece, Sandy Barnett of Shelbyville; and a nephew, William Barnett of St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Unger. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN. There will be no viewing.
